Jambo!
I thought that it would be polite to write something in English for a long time. We had our first year show last Saturday and it went better than I expected. I wasn't performing, but I was judging the acts when organizing the show. I also took photos during the show and lots of them. Our show started with a video, that some of the first years did. We did our own version of Gangman Style. UWC RCN - Gustaf Style (Gangman Style Parody). We also made skits about our lovely second years. After the show I was so relieved that it was over.
On Monday we started PBL (Project Based Learning). My PBL is Swahili Language and Culture. To those of you who know Swahili even a little the first word of the post is familiar. To the majority of you who don't speak Swahili Jambo means Hello. The PBL has been really interesting and our group is really nice. Yesterday we learned some basic words and today we focused more on the culture. I hope I have a change to visit Tanzania someday in the future and use the knowledge I've learned in practice. Tomorrow we will still concentrate on language and on Friday we will cook dinner together.
Now the pictures from the show!
Jambo!
Viikonloppuna oli sitten ykkösten esitys, josta teille on ylhäällä valokuvia. Aloitimme shown videolla, johonka löytyy linkki englannin kielisestä osiosta. Showssa teimme pilkkaa sketsien avulla rakkaista ja ihanista kakkosistamme. Lisäksi tarjosimme heille viihdettä. Oli kyllä huojentunut olo shown päätyttyä.
Maanantaina alkoi sitten se paljon puhuttu projektiviikko. Oma projektini on Swahilin kieli ja kulttuuri. Opimme eilen perussanoja kuten Jambo, joka tarkoittaa Hei. Tänään keskityimme enemmän kulttuuriin. Huomenna jatkamme kielen parissa ja perjantaina valmistamme päivällistä. Ryhmä on todella mukava. Huomenna pitää kuitenkin taas aloittaa kiinan opiskelu sillä maanantaina heti ensimmäisellä tunnilla on koe.
